Digital Legacy Planning
Planning your digital afterlife.
Your digital life — passwords, accounts, photos, subscriptions, crypto — needs a plan just like your physical estate. Without one, your family is locked out.
Use a password manager
Services like 1Password, Bitwarden, or Proton Pass store all your passwords in one place, locked by a single master password. Leave your master password (and the name of the password manager) in a sealed envelope with your will, or save it securely in the app.

Appoint a digital executor
Name someone in your will (or a letter of wishes) who will manage your digital accounts after death. Tell them: what to memorialise (Facebook), what to delete (dating apps), what to preserve (cloud photos), and what to close (subscriptions).
What to include in your digital estate plan
- Password manager + master password
- Email accounts and what to do with them
- Social media accounts and your wishes (memorialise/delete)
- Cloud storage with photos and videos (back up before closing)
- Subscriptions and streaming services (cancel list)
- Online banking and investment accounts
- Cryptocurrency wallets and seed phrases
- Any online businesses or revenue-generating accounts
- Google Inactive Account Manager settings
- Apple Digital Legacy Contact
